Devlog 5 - 26/05/24
This week, there hasn't been a massive amount of change in Scunthorpe Specials as it nears completion; the main focus has been on the user experience instead of gameplay mechanics. Firstly, I created a pause menu. To bring the menu up, you press escape. While the pause menu is up, all gameplay freezes except for the music. The music is, however, down-pitched and slowed greatly while the game is pause. You can exit the pause menu by either pressing escape or clicking continue.
After this, I created a credits screen that you can choose to display after winning the game. The audio recording for the credit screen features two songs. Firstly, Thousand Mile March:

https://www.premiumbeat.com/royalty-free-music?q=dubstep. Although it isn't much of a reward, the credit screen can only be seen after winning the game.
Lastly, I created a score tracking feature that will display your run's score (beverages killed) upon either dying or winning, on a death or victory screen respectively. The main menu will also display your highest score achieved. This allows a player to aim for a goal other than just beating the boss if they so choose. Currently, the score does not display during a run, but I plan to change this.
